Alexander Graham Bell once said, ‘When one door closes, another door opens.’  Well, that literally happened to SPARKS FLY retreats. We’ve been plotting these workshops for nearly three years, and since setting them in Lunenburg, and identifying our original venue, covid threw wrenches into many things. Our original venue sold and closed. But, voilà, an even better venue – the Bluenose Lodge – revealed itself. The Lodge had been on the market when we first planned our retreats.  Last year it was bought, beautifully renovated and re-opened by Mark Trask.  Now, under this new ownership, the Bluenose Lodge is celebrating 75 years of providing exceptional hospitality.

The Lodge boasts an on-site restaurant and a private room where the workshops will take place. It’s a short 5-minute walk to the harbour and the historic old town where guests might see the inn’s namesake, the Bluenose II, in its home port located beside the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic. The Lodge is also across the street from an extensive network of hiking trails.

How to book your retreat accommodation

After securing your spot in the retreat, book your accommodation by emailing reservations@bluenoselodge.ca. Or call +1 902-634-8851 or +1 800-565-8851. Be sure to mention that you are attending the Memoir Writing Workshop with Allegra Huston or the Creativity Training Workshop with Hester Schofield, and provide your dates. The rooms will be marked as Sold Out on traditional booking sites, as they’ve been set aside, with special rates, for our retreats!

  1. Hello from Truro, NS! Perhaps you’d consider having me do a Poetry Retreat in the near future?
I’d love to hear back from you.

    Many thanks,
    Chad Norman
