So much for the best laid plans of mice and men. We started plotting our retreats in 2019 – so very, very long ago, in a world that feels unrecognizable. Much has happened in the last couple of years and, like everyone else with their plans, there has been an awful lot of pivoting going on. Our first retreat was to take place in Andalusia in spring of 2020. Enough said. The very nature of these workshops – travel and group gatherings – seemed ludicrous under the looming shadow of COVID-19.

During that time, just before COVID-19 reared its head, I moved. I moved to the breathtakingly beautiful province of Nova Scotia, Canada. Our house closed the first day of the first lockdown. We are in Lunenburg County, a gorgeous area of endless coastline, colourful fishing villages, pristine beaches and rich history. There is a vibrant art/literary/music scene, and an incredible food scene, featuring some of the best seafood you’ll ever taste. As we were busily pivoting, it dawned on us that my new home province, Nova Scotia, was the perfect place to host our retreats.

At last, SPARKS FLY retreats coming in 2023

And so, at long last, we are announcing our initial workshops in the spring of 2022 2023, in the historic town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is built on a hillside overlooking Lunenburg Harbour. It’s the home of the Bluenose, the world-famous racing schooner that decorates the Canadian ten cent piece. It’s also home to great restaurants, hiking and biking paths, and some of the oldest homes in Canada.

We look forward to you joining our excellent teachers in this amazing setting for an unforgettable learning experience!
